Past President Diana Carloni Nourse Hailed as ‘Woman of Achievement’
San Bernardino Attorney Diana Carloni Nourse, 1988 president of the IALA, has received the Woman of Achievement Award from the Victor Valley Business and Professional Women's Organization.
A former mayor of Hesperia, she is now a member of the City Council there.
The Hesperia Resorter reported Nourse’s honor on the front page of a recent edition. The article, excerpted here with permission, went on to say:
In order to be nominated for the Woman of Achievement Award, the nominee must have obtained outstanding achievement in her career; provide assistance to other women in their advancement; provide outstanding guidance to youth and young career women; and provide outstanding community service.
Currently employed by the Ontario-based firm of Cihigoyenetche, Grossberg & Clouse as a civil trial attorney, Nourse has obtained an impressive list of career accomplishments since graduating from Loyola Law School and obtaining her juris doctorate in 1981. In addition to being admitted to the California courts, she enjoys privileges to the federal court, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
A member of the International Footprint Association, Nourse also holds membership to numerous other organizations such as the Italian American Lawyers of Los Angeles County, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Hesperia Lodge 2646, American Field Service (host family, student liaison for exchange students), the Hesperia Youth Accountability Board and the High Desert Bar Asso-ciation.
Nourse feels that women can contribute most effectively to their communities by educating themselves and being self-sufficient in society, by establishing a strong fundamental moral and ethical base for their children, providing a secure home environment and plenty of encouragement for success.
In advising young women just beginning a career, Nourse stated that professionalism in presentation, deed and act is the most persuasive and effective. "Attaining the goal is more important than a personal win or loss, as the success in attaining the goal is the ultimate win," she said.
